Spring is when this work gets booked.

There are practical reasons the calendar bunches up, and a couple of ways to get ahead of it.

An excavator clearing ground along a tree line on a spring day

Why spring

Ground conditions, mostly. Heavy machinery on soft winter ground churns a property up and can do more damage than the demolition itself. Once it dries out, access improves and the work gets cleaner and faster. Winter damage has also just become visible - a shed that has finally given up, fencing that came down in a storm, a deck that did not survive.

Which means spring is busy

Everybody arrives at the same conclusion at the same time. If your job has a deadline attached - a sale, a build, a tenant moving in - it is worth having the conversation early, even if the work happens later.

What to sort out before you call

Know roughly what is coming down and whether a machine can get to it. If the structure is older, think about whether asbestos might be present, because that has to be dealt with by a licensed abatement contractor before anybody starts. And check whether utilities are still connected to it - that is the most common reason a scheduled job does not go ahead on the day.

Clearing at the same time

Spring clearing and demolition tend to be the same visit. Overgrowth, brush and storm debris come out alongside the structure, and it is cheaper to haul once than twice.
